About

Express yourself, be fabulous, make friends, try something new, and celebrate Pride! Queer Teen Ensemble Theatre (QTET) is a unique program giving voice and artistry to LGBTQ youth in the Seattle community. Produced with Washington Ensemble Theatre and led by Jessica Hatlo, it is a city-wide summer theatre workshop that provides a creative outlet for queer teens and their friends to express who they are and where they come from.

By participating in QTET you will:

• Meet kids from all over the city and build an ensemble of queer teens/allies.

• Find the stories you have to tell: about love, struggle, comedy, confusion, heartbreak, identity and community.

• Discover how your story relates to someone else’s story. Together we will find a story that is ours and tell it together.

• Get a crash course in ensemble theatre-making through playing games, working together as a group, doing some improv, writing a ton and making a produced play!

• Have a say in all aspects of the production. We decide as a group how to tell our story. You influence the final design of the production and the script. Professional designers flesh out our vision and bring our ideas to life.

• Work with ensemble members and guest artists to learn a bunch of different tools for storytelling, including physical training, choreography and puppetry.

• March in the Pride Parade!

Theater experience is not required. Just bring a desire to try new things, tell your story and be part of a community. We work with you to make sure that you are excited, safe, growing and having a lot of fun doing it!
